As an attorney at Burger Law, John C. Burns focuses on zealously advocating for injured clients and holding negligent defendants accountable for the harm they inflict. John has litigated cases throughout Missouri administrative and trial courts, as well as the Missouri Court of Appeals, Missouri Supreme Court, United States District Courts and United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth and Eighth Circuits. While John’s practice is heavily focused on injury law, premises liability, worker’s compensation, and auto crashes, he has litigated product liability, consumer protection, fraud, employment discrimination, employment contract, civil rights and commercial litigation at the state and federal levels.
John is admitted to practice in Missouri, as well as various federal courts, including the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Missouri, the Northern and Southern Districts of Illinois, the Southern District of Texas, and the Fifth Circuit Court Appeals. John has authored and presented various articles and presentations on various legal topics, and is a member of the Missouri Bar Association, Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys, the National Employment Lawyers Association, and the Lawyer’s Association of St. Louis.
John grew up in Northern St. Louis County, and graduated from CBC High School. John received his B.A. in Philosophy from Truman State University, and has also studied philosophy at Georgetown and George Mason Universities. He received his J.D. from Saint Louis University School of Law, receiving distinction for civil rights studies.
In a previous life, John was a journalist, grade school teacher, and construction laborer. John lives in St. Louis with his beautiful wife, Katie, and three unbelievably energetic children – Jack, Marley, and Henry. John and his family are parishioners of St. Gabriel the Archangel Church, and he and his family volunteer at St. Cecelia’s Roman Catholic Church, each in southern City of St. Louis.
